Happy Kids — New Back Packs

Sincere thanks to everyone for purchasing supplies or providing monetary support for the Back Pack Mission Project, and to the Mission Committee for the scissors for each back pack. We were able to provide 91 filled back packs, 46 shopping bags of supplies, 13 shopping bags of High School supplies and 20 preschoolers (Head Start) with crayons, pencils and glue sticks.

Dearest Friends and Family of Morning Star,

Our hearts are saddened as we leave Morning Star but we will always keep you in our thoughts and prayers.  Thank You for the beautiful cross that we received as we prepared to make our way to a new adventure.  It is full of imagery and meaning for us and it will find a prominent place in our new home as we carry away wonderful memories of you the church, the people and the community that we have shared so much with.

It has been an exciting time and an awesome privilege to be part of this church.  You have warmed our hearts, helped us fulfill dreams and we have experienced true faith in walks with you.

These are gifts that only God can provide and His people can share.  Thank you for being God's hands and feet in this community and to us.  As you journey on, we pray that Morning Star will continue on its journey and always keep focused on Christ.  Thank you again for the gift, the time and home of Morning Star.

Dear Congregation at Morning Star UMC,

Thank you for the Barnes and Noble gift card you presented me as a graduation present and thanks for your support throughout the years.  Since the NMSU bookstore is now owned by Barnes and Noble this gift may well buy me enough Scantrons to last me the entirety of college or at least get me started with very large stockpile.  I know you may wish it was for something like a bible cover or just for fun reading, but in this age I can read almost any classic online and not have to worry about losing my place or not being able to take notes due to a lack of writing implement.

On behalf of our Sunday School students and teaching team we would like to acknowledge Fran Boldt's years of service teaching Sunday School. 

We are grateful for her dedication and for the many lives she has touched through her Sunday School Classes.  She will be missed as a teacher, but we certainly applaud her continuing activities in other ministries at Morning Star.

A thank you note for the meals as well as the prayer shawl was recently received from Linda O’Brien. She is recovering well from her recent surgery and is scheduled to go to Houston, TX for further evaluation on February 23. Continued prayers for Linda would be appreciated.

It takes a Church to provide Christmas blessings to 104 children in 30 families.  Thank you to everyone who made tags, purchased gifts, donated food or money, shopped for needed items, supplied brownies or goodies, made quilts, helped pack and deliver items to the school, prayed for the success of our project, or helped in any other way.  Thanks also, to staff members at Booker T. Washington who supported our efforts.  May the Christmas spirit you shared follow you and your family into 2011.

The Light House will be open on Tuesday, December 21 from 9:00 to 11:00 am to assist needy families with basic food items, hygiene items, and warm clothing.  You have made a difference in the lives of many families.

Recently we received a thank-you note:

"Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers before, during and after my surgery.  It is so comforting to know that you all care.  The surgery went well ... I am so blessed.  My recuperation is expected to take at least 10 weeks.  Thank you all for your comforting words.  Blessings to all of you."
